What are facial thread veins?
Spider veins or red facial thread veins can form in clusters which can cover significant surface areas of the skin. They are most commonly found on the legs and face.
Thread veins are often more visible on the face because the skin in areas such as the nose, cheeks and chin is much thinner than on other areas of the body.
Here at Natural Face Aesthetics, we use the ThermaVein® technology to treat thread veins.
Are thread veins dangerous?
Facial veins are typically not dangerous; however, many people would rather have them treated for aesthetic reasons as the condition can cause people to become self-conscious.
What causes thread veins?
There is no single cause behind thread veins or spider veins. Here are the most common causes.
- Hereditary
- Over exposure extreme climate conditions (sun, wind)
- Certain skin conditions such as rosacea
- Trauma to the area of skin
- Excessive drinking of alcohol or smoking
- Hormonal changes: including puberty and pregnancy
How do we treat facial thread veins?
Here at Natural Face Aesthetics, in Malmesbury, Wiltshire we use the ThermaVein® technology to treat thread veins.
ThermaVein® provides safe, fast and effective treatment for the removal of veins and vascular blemishes from across the entire body. Using a thermocoagulation process, an insulated probe with a 4Mhz current is applied to the skin causing the vein to empty. ThermaVein® then creates a seal by gently heating the vein wall, allowing the body to naturally reabsorb the vein. The low current ensures the blood does not coagulate, making it very a safe and sought-after, walk-in walk- out treatment.
ThermaVein® can also be used to treat milia, skin tags, Campbell-de-Morgan spots, cherry angioma, spider naevi, vascular blemishes and ankle thread veins. The technology is also commonly used in conjunction with microsclerotherapy and advanced treatment options are also available.
